Our Dance Forms

Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu. Described in the treatise Natya Shastra by Bharata around the beginning of the common era, it is known for its grace, purity, tenderness, expression, and sculpturesque poses.

Lord Shiva in his Nataraja form is considered the God of this dance. Students learn intricate footwork, expressive hand gestures (mudras), and storytelling through movement.

Mohiniyattam

Mohiniyattam is a classical dance form from Kerala, India, believed to have originated in the 16th century. It is one of the eight Indian classical dance forms recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Considered a very graceful form of dance meant to be performed as solo recitals by women, Mohiniyattam embodies feminine grace through gentle, swaying movements reminiscent of swaying palms and ocean waves.
